Being a journalist for top-level online music publications like Pitchfork, Stylus and most recently his own taste-making MP3 blog, Razorblade Runner, has made Cadence an influential figure in the modern, independent hip-hop landscape.

Following massive grassroots support for his independent mix tape, Cadence Weapon Is the Black Hand (2005), Cadence Weapon (aka Rollie Pemberton) returns with a more focused sound on his debut album, Breaking Kayfabe, with sparring angular electro beats and frantic samples, coining �??electro rap�?� as the 2006 sound. Outside of the album and fall tour, Pemberton has produced remixes for Disco D, Vice Records�?? �??Do They Know It�??s Halloween?�?� and Island UK�??s grime up-and-comer Lady Sovereign.
