It's ironic. Just at the moment that Silas And Maria seemed poised to really take things to the next level, unconfirmed rumors are circulating in the streetwear world that this iconic UK brand is ceasing operations and will continue to exist only via a licensing deal in Japan.

It's sad that this comes after the brand was forced to annouce that several pieces from their Spring/Summer 2006 collection would not be produced due to a manufacturer's error, but the word on the streets is that this issue, coupled with a couple seasons of poor sales have pushed Silas to end operations. All of this is particularly sad given that affiliates like James Jarvis are rising to new hights of fame and success. Other Silas family making moves include Fergus Purcell, designer of cult t shirt line Tonite, who's new band 5 Mic Cluster have an album coming out this summer on Output Recordings and illustrator French, who has a several drawings and paintings in "The Rest Is Total Silence", a group show also featuring Brian Degraw, Maya Hayuk, and Kiyoshi Kuroda at New York's white hot ATM Gallery.
